7 April – 2 top 10 entries written by Lionel Bart – ‘Do You mind’ and ‘Fings ain’t wot they used t’be’

5 May – ‘Cathy’s Clown’ is the 1st and biggest single for Warner brothers.

19 May – Adam Faith’s ‘Someone Else’s Baby’ stalls at No.2 – failing to make it a hat-trick of number 1 hits.

23rd June – Eddie Cochran becomes the 2nd person to score a posthumous number 1.

23rd June – Johnny Kid’s ‘Shakin all over’ becomes the 1st single to enter the charts lowest position (40) – that will eventually become number 1.

30th June – Jimmy Jones has 2 hits in the top 10!

11th August – Cliff’s ‘Please Don’t Tease’ climbs back to No.1 – the first single to do that since Jan 1957.

3rd November – Elvis goes straight in at No.1, the first single to do that since his ‘Jailhouse Rock’ 3 years earlier.
