1st April – First time in the top 10 for Donovan.

8th April – First time in the top 10 for the Who.

15th April – First time in the top 10 for Bob Dylan. Also the first Motown record to reach the top 10 (Supremes)

6th May – positions 4 to 8 are all from the Columbia label.

27th May – The only time a female British singer replaces another one at the top.

27th May – The Top 3 all contain the word ‘Love’

17th June – Elvis & Everly Brothers are Number 1&2 for the first time since the 50’s

1st July – Elvis scores his 15th Number 1 – he has had the most since Nov 1960 and will lead until Sep 68 when the Beatles will equal it.

9th Sep – Sonny and Cher in the top 10 as a duo and as solo artists.

23rd Dec – Ken Dodd with 2 hits in the top 5.

30th Dec – The Beatles are Christmas Number 1 for the third consecutive year.
