12th Jan – Donovan’s highest position but Tom Jones and new TV sensations the Monkees keep him from the top.

16th Feb – ‘This is my song’ was written by Charlie Chaplin. Petula Clark’s last Number 1 was 6 years ago. Charlie’s last big hit reached number 2 in 1953.

23rd Feb – Cat Stevens is in the top 10 as an artist and as a writer for the Tremeloes.

2nd March – The Beatle’s run of 11 consecutive Number 1’s comes to an end.

13th April – Nancy and Frank becomes the most successful father and daughter act in history. They also become the first people to have a duo Number 1 after solo Number 1’s.

27th April – Sandie Shaw scores a number 1 and a Eurovision victory. The 1st woman to achieve the former and 1st Britain to achieve the latter.

25th May – Three of the top 4 are covers. Only the Kinks’ is original.

2nd Aug – Stevie Wonder’s first Top 10.

9th Aug – Scott McKenzie has the longest titled song to reach the top.

6th Sep – The only Rolling Stones single to not hit the top 5 from 1964 – 1974.

11th Oct – Massachusetts is the 2nd American city at Number 2 in 1967 and the 3rd since the charts started. The other was ‘Laramie’ in 1955.

8th Nov – Frankie Vaughan’s last Top 10 week comes 11 years after his first.

6th Dec – The Beatles’ 13th Number one spends more weeks at the top then any of their others.

27th Dec – The Beatles at Number one and at number two.
